Model 900 MHz (GSM) exposure to volunteers and analysis of chromosome aberrations in peripheral lymphocytes and micronuclei in buccal cells
Details

Peripheral lymphocytes were obtained from volunteer mobile phone users and analyzed for cytogenetic effects. In addition, buccal cells were isolated and examined for micronuclei. The authors correlated the make and model of the mobile phone with various cytological endpoints. No average SAR over the exposure period was provided, just the max SARs for given handset models, and these varied from 1.02 to 1.92 W/kg. The length of time of use among volunteers ranged from3 to five years, with varying estimated daily frequency of use. The authors report increased MN (exposed = 0.82±0.094 vs. controls = 0.06±.0003) and chromosome aberrations (exposed = 31.28±10.29 vs. controls = 10.66±4.59) associated with mobile phone use

No SAR, no exposure assessment, no control for exposure conditions, no distinction of what signal technology was used (GSM vs. CDMA vs. analog).
