Electromagnetic (RF and ELF) emissions from PDAs and other electronic devices: health risks and comparison with current ICNIRP and IEEE limits. |
Details |
|
Various PDA units operating on wide area networks were tested for ELF emissions during operation. The PDAs operated on a variety of different air interfaces (i.e., CDMA, GSM, 800/1900 MHz). The authors report that intermittent ELF emissions were ~2 microT, although peaks could be as high as 10 microT. By contrast, several household appliances emit several tens of microT during operation. The ICNIRP limits are 83 microT at 60 Hz |
