Study Type Human / Provocation
Model 900 MHz (GSM) exposure to volunteers and analysis of heart rate and blood pressure
Details

Volunteers (n=32) were exposed to 900 MHz (GSM) RF using a mobile phone handset hooked to the network for 20 minutes and evaluated before, during, and after the call using a 3-lead ECG monitor. The authors report some evidence of an increase in parasympathetic tone and decrease in sympathetic tone during mobile phone use, althought they aknowledge these observations may have been a result of the subject speaking (due to increased breathing and having an influence on heart rate), but they suggest it is due to the RF exposure.
