ID Number 1976
Study Type In Vitro
Model 60 Hz (ELF) exposure to bacterial enzymes and analysis of enzyme activity
Details

Rhodospirillum rubrum (bacteria) chlorophyll containing chromatophors were exposed to 60 Hz ELF fields at 0.1, 0.3, or 0.5 milliT for 30 minutes and examined for ATPase activity. The authors report an increase in F0F1-ATPase activity and subsequent increased ATP hydrolysis. The authors suggest that such increased F0F1-ATPase activity has also been found in patients with Alzheimer's disease
