Model 50 Hz exposure to Djungarian hamsters, rats, and other vertebrates and analysis of melatonin production
Details

50 Hz ELF exposure to Djungarian hamsters, rats, and brook trout at levels between 1 and 450 microT and exposure duration ranging from 50-100 days. The authors report increased serum melatonin and testicular cell numbers, and decreased body weight but no dramatic effect on tumorigenesis. They suggest weak magnetic fields may affect reproductive and physiological function.
