Patients with spinal cord injury (n = 29) were treated with 25 Hz pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) at 10 milliT for 30 minutes/day, beginning on the 7th week after injury and lasting 4 weeks. The authors report the treatment blocked heterotropic ossification complications and increased blood flow to areas of pain and inflammation.
