50 Hz (PEMF) exposure to rats and analysis of bone loss |
Details |
|
Sprague Dawley rats (n = 80) that were either untreated, disuse-induced osteoporosis due to isolating the leg, or treated with calcitonin were exposed to 50 Hz pulsed electromagnetic fields on the hind leg. The authors report that PEMF exposure increased serum TGF-beta, decreased IL-6 levels, and stopped bone loss. |
