900 MHz (GSM) mobile phone exposure to humans and analysis of temperature increases in the ear using IR imaging |
Details |
|
Human volunteers exposed to 900 MHz (GSM) phones for 30 minutes at 0.2 and 2 watt peak power were analyzed by IR photography to determine temperature increases in the ear during exposure. The aim of the study is to investigate increases in skin temperature due to GSM mobile phone use and characterize the contribution from the RF exposure vs that due to the currents drawn from the battery. In a preliminary report at BEMS in 2001, at the highest power level temperatures in the ear were increased 1.85 degrees, while on the skin below the ear temperatures remained similar to controls.
