Model 2450 MHz (PW) exposure to rats and analysis of behavior and performance
Details

Sprague Dawley rats were exposed to 2450 MHz (PW) RF repeatedly for 45 minutes over 10 consecutive test days at a whole body SAR of 0.6 W/kg. The effect of opioid antagonists (physostigmine, naltrexone HCL) were also investigated alone and in combination with exposure. The study was designed to replicate earlier results reported by Lai et al (Bioelectromagnetics 1994, 15:95-104). "Error rates," i.e. the number of times a rat reentered an arm it had already visited as well as "time to criterion" or the time it took for each rat to enter all 12 of the arms was assessed. Data was analyzed by a three-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The authors report a significant test day effect and drug effect, but no effect of RF exposure on working memory and radial arm maze performance. Several letters to the editor followed publication.
